Shen Boyuan

I’m Very Happy After Marrying the CEO Husband According to the Agreement

Shen Boyuan is Shen Tang’s maternal uncle, whose appearance transforms her search for family from uncertain hope into confirmed kinship and lived domestic belonging. He recognizes her resemblance to his missing sister before the test results are available, welcomes her without reservation, and supports her not through grand authority but through ordinary acts of care: holding her hand, inviting her home, cooking for her, and offering himself as a dependable pillar when she is distressed.

Identity and Family Background

Shen Boyuan belongs to a scholarly Shen family and is the brother of Shen Xiuxiu, Shen Tang’s mother. His account of the family’s past supplies the background to Shen Xiuxiu’s disappearance. Shen Xiuxiu was the family’s cherished only daughter, but after meeting Wei Xuan at university she became rebellious and insisted on remaining with him. The family initially believed that hardship would eventually bring her home. When she stopped attending university, however, Shen Boyuan and the others realized that something was wrong. Their search discovered only that she had left with Wei Xuan; even a journey to Wei Xuan’s hometown failed to locate them.

That history gives Shen Boyuan’s first encounter with Shen Tang a double force. He is not merely meeting a newly identified niece; he is confronting the surviving trace of a sister whose disappearance left the family without answers. When he sees Shen Tang clearly, his eyes redden because she looks so much like Shen Xiuxiu. His certainty that she is his sister’s daughter precedes the formal evidence, showing that family recognition in this scene begins through resemblance and memory before it is secured by science.

Recognition and Reunion

Shen Boyuan joins his wife and Shen Yu in meeting Shen Tang at the hospital. He immediately tells her to call him uncle and rejects the need to wait emotionally for the blood test, insisting that no test is necessary because her face confirms her connection to Shen Xiuxiu. The doctor later confirms that Shen Tang and the family do share a blood relationship, turning his intuitive recognition into verified fact and completing the central revelation of the reunion.

Once the result is known, Shen Boyuan does not treat Shen Tang as a distant relative who must gradually earn admission. He and his wife invite her to move back home, explaining that the family has always kept both her room and her mother’s room. He frames the invitation as both affection and protection, warning that it is unsafe for a young woman to live alone outside. His welcome therefore joins emotional restoration to material security: Shen Tang is offered not only a surname and a genealogy, but an intact place within the household.

Shen Boyuan’s concern extends to the older generation. He tells Shen Tang that her grandmother misses her and, despite suffering from an illness that makes stimulation dangerous, still murmurs about Shen Xiuxiu and Shen Tang. He offers to bring the grandmother to meet her, and Shen Tang agrees when the appeal reaches the unresolved emotional center of the family. Shen Yu’s delight at taking his sister home reinforces the sense that Shen Boyuan’s invitation has immediately reorganized the household around her return.

Domestic Care and Emotional Support

The Shen residence is a modest small villa rather than an imposing estate, and Shen Boyuan’s hospitality is expressed through its routines. When Shen Tang arrives with the family, he is in the kitchen cooking vigorously, still stirring the wok as he calls for her to sit down because the food will soon be ready. The scene gives his welcome a tactile, domestic form. He is not only the man who explains the family tragedy or confirms the bloodline; he is also the uncle preparing a meal for a niece who has spent years without her birth family.

His most important support appears when Shen Tang returns home in tears. She expects that he may ask for an explanation, but Shen Boyuan does not press her for information. Instead, he seats her on the sofa and tells her that she may cry, while reminding her not to keep everything bottled up because he will always be a firm source of support. When he offers advice if she wishes to explain, he also leaves room for silence if she cannot. This restraint matters because Shen Tang cannot disclose the implausible circumstances surrounding mind reading. Shen Boyuan’s care does not depend on receiving a complete account; he accepts her emotional reality even when its cause remains hidden.

The same household scene includes Shen Yu’s immediate promise to support her as well, but Shen Boyuan establishes the adult structure that makes this promise credible. His authority is protective rather than coercive. He offers presence, food, a room, and listening without demanding that Shen Tang perform gratitude or reveal every secret before being treated as family.

Relations with Shen Tang and the Wider Plot

Shen Boyuan’s relationship with Shen Tang contrasts with the substitute forms of family that have shaped her life. Shen Tang has long cared for children from the Orphanage, including an eight-year-old boy with leukemia, and she has spent her savings helping them. Her drive to succeed is connected both to her own future and to the children she considers her responsibility. Against that background, Shen Boyuan’s invitation reverses the direction of care: the person who has habitually supported others is finally offered support by a biological relative.

The reunion also stands beside the contractual marriage binding Shen Tang to Gu Huaian. Gu Huaian is present when the family begins the testing process, but Shen Boyuan’s welcome belongs to a different structure of attachment. The marriage is initially an agreement, whereas Shen Boyuan treats kinship as something that can become real through recognition and daily practice. His insistence that Shen Tang come home helps distinguish legal or contractual connection from the family belonging created by memory, protection, and shared domestic life.

His response to Shen Tang’s troubles remains protective even when he cannot know the full truth. Later, when she attempts to move through the house quietly with Shen Yu after crying, she encounters Shen Boyuan on the stairs. The plan to avoid him fails, but he does not turn the accidental discovery into interrogation. He brings her to the sofa and repeats that she may rely on him. The recurrence of this gesture makes his characterization consistent: he notices her distress, offers a stable place to sit, and allows her control over what she is ready to say.

Narrative Role and Significance

Shen Boyuan functions as the emotional bridge between bloodline revelation and actual reunification. The hospital test proves that Shen Tang belongs to the Shen family, but his recognition, invitation, and care make that fact narratively meaningful. Through him, the story presents family as both inherited identity and repeated practice. A resemblance awakens the past; a test confirms it; a room, a meal, and a hand held in reassurance turn it into a present life.

His significance also lies in the contrast between the family’s earlier helpless search for Shen Xiuxiu and the family’s active welcome of Shen Tang. The unresolved disappearance of his sister has left Shen Boyuan with regret and anger toward Wei Xuan, yet he does not make Shen Tang bear that history as a burden. Instead, he directs the family’s recovered attachment forward. By the time Shen Tang agrees to go home, Shen Boyuan has helped make “home” less a lost origin than a place newly reopened for her.
